Wash the fruit and remove the stems. Place it in a food processor or blender and purÄe. Sieve the sauce through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl. Stir in the sugar and mix well. Stand for 1 hour for the sugar to melt. Serve with ice cream, over fresh apricots or peaches, or with rice pudding.
